A singular wine from an extraordinary vineyard, the Ark Vineyard Shiraz is exclusively available to The Barossa Cellar Vine Donors and Key Holders.
The Ark Vineyard is unlike any other in the world – a living legacy planted in 2020 at the foot of The Barossa Cellar. This one-hectare vineyard comprises 2,000 Shiraz vines, each sourced from cuttings of 35 of the Barossa’s most iconic 19th and 20th-century vineyards. These source vineyards represent some of the oldest Shiraz genetic material in the world, making the Ark Vineyard both a tribute to and a living expression of 175 years of Barossa winemaking heritage.
Hand-harvested in March 2024 at perfect ripeness, the grapes from all 35 rows were carefully crushed, fermented, pressed, and aged in a premium selection of both new and seasoned oak barrels—each step overseen with precision by the Grand Master.
Every vintage of Ark Vineyard Shiraz is a singular reflection of the season, while seamlessly blending the deep, storied influence of the legendary vines that have shaped the Barossa’s rich winemaking heritage.
Exclusively available to Vine Donors and Key Holders, this wine is your chance to not only taste history, but be part of it.
The Vineyard
The Ark Vineyard is a one-hectare site unlike any other in the world. Planted in 2020, it sits gracefully at the foot of The Barossa Cellar and is comprised of 2000 vines in 35 rows.
Each row is planted with vines sourced from cuttings taken from 35 of the surviving iconic 19th and 20th century Shiraz vineyards in the Barossa; in other words, the Ark Vineyard has some of the earliest wine material in the Barossa and indeed, some of the oldest Shiraz genetics in the World!
Together with The Barossa Cellar, the Ark Vineyard stands alone in the world of wine as an extraordinary tribute to 175 years of Barossa winemaking.
The Wine
Hand-harvested in March 2024 at perfect ripeness, the grapes from all 35 rows were carefully crushed, fermented, pressed, and aged in a premium selection of both new and seasoned oak barrels—each step overseen with precision by the Grand Master.
Every vintage of Ark Vineyard Shiraz is a singular reflection of the season, while seamlessly blending the deep, storied influence of the legendary vines that have shaped the Barossa’s rich winemaking heritage.
The growing season for the 2024 vintage started with cool conditions in spring and early summer. Gentle rain in late spring freshened the vines and gave a great start to the growing season with healthy vines growing quickly and setting a balanced crop. Grapes ripened quickly as summer continued to be dry. Warm weather and cool nights allowed even ripening of the grapes hence retaining a balance between the aromatics and natural acidity.
A long palate is shaped by fine, already integrated tannins, mouth-filling red and black fruits on the aroma and palate, and complexing hints of cedary oak rounding out the palate. It’s delicious now, or will reward some patient cellaring.
Harvested: 3rd March 2024
Oak: Matured for 20 months in French Oak Hogsheads, 10% new.
Alcohol: 14.5%
Cellaring: Now – 15 years.

Sustainability
The Ark Vineyard and its wine are Sustainable Winegrowing Australia (SWA) Certified. SWA is Australia’s national program for grape growers and winemakers to demonstrate and continuously improve their sustainability in the vineyard and winery through the environmental, social and economic aspects of their businesses.
The wine is bottled in the lightest glass bottle we could find. At only 330 grams, the energy and emissions savings in both manufacturing and transporting the bottles are significant when compared to more traditional, heavier bottles.
