Born in Waikerie with family roots running deep in the Barossa, Ellie Neindorf Agnew brings a fresh, thoughtful energy to the region’s food, wine and agritourism landscape.

Ellie blends academic insight with real-world experience, holding a Bachelor of Science, with Honours in Environmental Biology, and a Master’s in Global Food and Agricultural Business. She served on the University of Adelaide’s Agribusiness Advisory Board, received the Economic and Public Policy Excellence Award for Global Food Chains, and published her first paper.

She has a decade of experience working across the region’s food and wine scene, with hands-on roles with some of the Barossa’s most recognisable producers, starting with Barossa Valley Cheese Company followed by roles with the Barossa Farmers Market, Rockford Wines, Wiech’s Barossa Valley Egg Noodles, and now Careme Pastry.

A graduate of the Barossa Young Ambassador Program in 2017, Ellie went on to serve seven years on its committee, including two terms as Chair. Her Young Ambassador project produced the publicly available Barossa Bushwalks brochure.

In 2024, Ellie and her husband Owen became custodians of Gully Gardens in Angaston, combining passion for Barossa food, wine, and agritourism, with a deep commitment to preserve this 120-year-old heritage orchard and traditional mixed farm.

With a deep love for the land and a commitment to its future, Ellie is part of a new generation shaping Barossa’s story – with knowledge, purpose and a strong sense of place.
