Anson was born in Hong Kong and migrated to Sydney with his family in the 1990’s. He attended high school in Sydney and completed his Batchelor and Masters in Commerce at the University of New South Wales.

He began his career as an accountant at Price Waterhouse Coopers in Hong Kong before establishing an Australian wine import business in Hong Kong. In 2011, he extended operations to Mainland China. Now one of the few importers in China who carry over 100 SKUs of Australian Wines, mostly Barossa, with the most complete Barossa Portfolio in China in terms of variety and number of SKUs.

In 2013, Anson’s sister Corinne Mui, convinced him to study the Barossa Wine School program which included a 5-day study trip to the Barossa. That convinced him to initiate the “Cellar Door Cooperative” program in 2014, importing wine from 7 Barossa wineries into China. The program was launched at the Australian Embassy in Beijing.

Since then, Anson has worked very closely with Barossa Australia. He is currently contracted as the Asia Ambassador of Barossa, promoting the region in various Asian cities and developing Asian market strategies for the region. He also delivers Barossa Wine School classes in Australia and Asia.

He has received numerous awards for his work from Wine Australia China, including Best Australian Wine Importer, Highly Recommended Retailer Winner, Best Australian Wine On Premise Promotion Top 3 and Best Feature Story on Australian Wine.

Barossa is truly part of Anson’s life now, to the extent that he has begun to make some wine here. Anson thanks his family for their support and special thanks to James March and his family for making the Barossa feel like home for him.
