Born and raised in Adelaide, Christie came to the Barossa in the late 1970s, bringing with her a fresh perspective. She saw the untapped potential of a long-overlooked site and soon became the proud custodian of the ancient 1847 Turkey Flat Vineyard.  Christie saw a legacy worth preserving. She saved it from the infamous vine pull scheme of the mid-1980’s, ensuring it will continue for the next 177 years and beyond.

With an independent vision, she transformed Turkey Flat into a powerhouse of quality estate wines that reflect the unique character of the vineyard and the Barossa itself.

With a background in Fine Arts and retail management, Christie brought a creative flair and solid business sense to the task. Her fingerprints are all over Turkey Flat’s success, from renovating the old butcher’s shop to creating the now-iconic Turkey Flat label and brand. One of her proudest achievements? Winning the prestigious Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy for their 2016 Grenache – a first for this variety and a testament to her passion and dedication.

Beyond her work at Turkey Flat, Christie has also mentored several up-and-coming Barossa wine brands, helping them find their own paths to success.

As a mother of three – Will, Alex, and Oli – she’s well-versed in the delicate balance of work and family life. Christie has been a strong advocate for women in wine, championing the role of women in the industry and paving the way for future generations.

She continues to lead the company and, after 45 years in the Barossa, can finally claim her local status in this close-knit community.
