Moving to the region in 1999, Jane married Michael, a sixth-generation grazier in Eden Valley, and together they’ve raised two daughters amidst the rolling hills and vineyards of the Barossa.
With a Bachelor of Nursing, a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice, and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Studies, Jane has practiced as both a registered nurse and a solicitor, focusing her legal work on medical negligence, medical defence, and personal injury. As an intensive care nurse, she has worked in the UK and across both public and private healthcare sectors in Australia.
She has also completed courses in Agricultural Landcare and Rural Business Management.
Jane is a passionate advocate on the key issues of healthcare, water security and planning for this community. She currently serves as an Elected Member of the Barossa Council, and is involved with several important committees, including the Barossa Districts Health Advisory Council and the Barossa Water Allocation Planning Advisory Group. She’s also a voice for mental health as part of the Barossa Mental Health Project Taskforce.
Jane Initiated the Barossa Community Water Forum, which brought together Federal, State, and Local Government, industry leaders, and 150 community members to discuss water security. She has been a driving force behind community groups including the Barossa 30 Year Water Security Strategy Development Group and the Barossa Hospital Community Consumer Reference Group.
Whether it’s serving on the Faith College Board, working with the Barossa Improved Grazing Group, supporting local sports clubs, or helping with bushfire recovery, Jane’s dedication to her community knows no bounds. She’s a true advocate for the Barossa.
