Each year, on the third Sunday of February, the Barons of Barossa gather in Tanunda to celebrate the highly anticipated Declaration of Vintage. This vibrant tradition begins at the historic Tabor Church, where the first-picked grapes receive a ceremonial blessing. From there, the Barons, dressed in full regalia, lead a colorful procession down the main street to Keil Garden. Here, the first grapes of the season are ceremoniously crushed and tasted, the Barossa Winemaker and Viticulturist of the Year are honored, and the vintage is officially declared.

The Barons of Barossa Induction Ceremony is a distinguished event celebrating individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Barossa’s wine industry and community. In 2025, the Barons of Barossa will mark their 50th anniversary with special celebrations at the Barossa Vintage Festival, honoring five decades of dedication to Barossa’s wine heritage.
